Will creating a historical order during Plant Maintenance Work Order archiving
improve performance
?

Scenario:  We have an estimated 4 million maintenance orders in our system.  Performance of standard SAP maintenance transactions such as IW38 and IW39 has been significantly impacted.  It could take as long as 10 minutes to execute these transactions.  Oftentimes, executing IW38 or IW39 transactions will result in a run-time error.

It appears that if you archive work orders and do not create a historical order, the order is removed from table AUFK which could increase performance of running standard SAP work order transactions.

If you archive work orders and create the historical order, the order IS NOT REMOVED from table AUFK. The order remains in the table in a “summarized” form.

So it appears that creating a historical order improves disk space, but it will not improve performance of the standard SAP Maintenance
Transactions such as IW38 and IW39.  Since executing these transactions, the system has to read the orders in table AUFK.  Please let me know if my
assumption is correct or incorrect.  If anyone knows that if I archive and create a historical order, that this will improve the performance of execution standard SAP maintenance transactions such as IW38 and/or IW39.
